History of Cloquet MN 55720

Cloquet was incorporated as a village in 1884 and became a city,  in 1904.

The town was largely rebuilt after the the 1918 Cloquet Fire where approximately 500 people perished in the fire..

Cloquet is famous around the  Second World War because it was home of the most unique and largest consumer cooperative in the country at the time. The Cloquet Cooperative founded around 1910 operated two cooperative stores which pretty much handled every kind of consumer product of the day.

In 1939 had the largest segment of the business of both Cloquet MN and Carlton County.
